Navigating Rainy Days: How This Car Show Season Tested Our Resilience and Planning

A car show gets rained out

The car show season this year (and last year as well) brought unexpected challenges with weather playing a major role. Many events scheduled in April, May, and July faced cancellations or postponements due to persistent rain. July stood out as the wettest month on record, disrupting plans and testing the patience of organizers and enthusiasts alike. Despite these setbacks, June and August offered a welcome break with much better weather, allowing shows to proceed smoothly. Even though the season ended with some rainy days, most weekends remained dry enough to enjoy the events. These past two seasons highlighted how crucial it is for everyone involved in car shows to coordinate carefully, especially when selecting dates. Checking the calendar on our website before finalizing plans can help avoid conflicts and weather-related disappointments.

Lessons Learned for Future Car Show Seasons

This season’s weather challenges offer valuable lessons for everyone involved in running car shows. Here are some key takeaways:

  • Check the calendar on our web site carefully before setting dates. Coordinating with other events can prevent overlapping and reduce competition for attendees.

  • Monitor weather forecasts closely in the days leading up to shows. Early warnings can help organizers prepare backup plans or communicate changes quickly.

  • Consider flexible scheduling options. Having alternate dates or times can save a show from cancellation. Rain date(s) are a MUST!

  • Communicate clearly with participants and attendees - and us. Timely updates about weather conditions and any changes build trust and keep everyone informed. Let us know here at Jersey Shore Car Shows and we will get the information out on our web site and social media.

  • Encourage community cooperation. Organizers, vendors, and car owners working together can adapt more easily to weather challenges.

  • While July was the wettest month in 2025, many rain cancellations occurred in April and May as well. With the exception of 2 months, this was a very rainy season. The green line represents the amount of rain we received, and the grey lines are the average rainfall totals.

Practical Tips for Organizers and Attendees

To make the most of future car show seasons, here are some practical tips:

For Organizers

  • Use online calendars and tools to avoid date conflicts.

  • Plan rain dates or backup locations when possible.

  • Invest in weather-resistant equipment like tents and covers.

  • Keep communication channels open via email, social media, and our website.

  • Collaborate with local meteorologists or weather services for accurate forecasts. We swear by Nor'Easter Nick who is the most accurate for Southern NJ.

For Attendees

  • Check the event’s official website, social media, or calendar before heading out.

  • Bring rain gear such as waterproof jackets and umbrellas.

  • Protect your vehicle with covers if you plan to display it.

  • Stay flexible and ready to adjust plans if weather changes.

  • Support local vendors and organizers even if events are rescheduled.

Why Checking the Calendar Matters More Than Ever

Since car shows are so weather dependent, coordinating dates is crucial. Overlapping events can split crowds, and poor weather on one weekend can affect multiple shows if they are scheduled too close together. Our website’s calendar is designed to help everyone involved:

  • View all upcoming car shows in one place.

  • Avoid scheduling conflicts.

  • Plan around weather patterns based on past seasons.

  • Stay updated on any changes or cancellations.

Using this resource ensures smoother planning and better experiences for everyone.

Together, we can keep the passion for car shows alive, rain or shine.
